GHOSTBUSTERS #1

Whoyagonnacall?

Okay, still can't use that phrase.

But the cossies were great fun to make and wear!

We got the overalls from Army Disposals and dyed 'em, put extra zips in and the like. My partner, Gail, handpainted the name labels and the obligatory Ghostbustin' Patches.

I made the Proton Packs out of light gauge sheet aluminium suitably dressed with all kinds of found objects.

The 'blasters' had flashing L.E.D chains inside the tubes and, just for a bit of 'noise', truck reverse beepers made from Dick Smith Electronics kits; well, nobody ignored them!

More L.E.Ds in the 'Unlicensed Nuclear Accelerator' at the base of the pack. These flashed on and off in sequence to give a visual representation of whatever the heck particles (Protons? Anti-Protons?) were supposed to be charging the blaster. I built a big battery operated fan into the pack with the blades rigged slightly off center. A knife-bladed 'Mad Scientist' switch triggered the fan, producing a fair old generator like vibe and hum.

It was also fun recompositing the picture with a new background as well as Slimer and his ectoplasmic, er, residue!

The little Judge Dredd like badge is one I tooled up to show that I was a member of THREADS, which was a craft and costume group I belonged to. It was kind of an unrelated precursor to the Australian Costumers Guild which I later helped found here in Oz.
