An Arch of Leaves in Light

The softening light of late afternoon illuminates the rust autumn leaves and moss-draped sunward branches of a cypress stand in the bayou near Uncertain, Texas.

This is another of what over time will likely be a number of posts from my recent quick trip to the swamps around Caddo Lake in Louisiana and Texas with good friends Josh Krasner and Sky Matthews. Moving through this magical fusion of water and forest, I was taken at every turn by the evolving light and shadow conditions, and I particularly loved how, behind the richly lit areas, almost skeletal detail remained visible in some of the shadowed trees and moss. Truly an environment of uncommon beauty.

Thanks for viewing.
