the first day of the triduum novena days to commemorate the "kaplag" or the recovery of the miraculous image of the santo nino de cebu, the oldest religious image in the philippines, by the soldier of legazpi's fleet, Juan de Camuz. the image was found unscathed in a burnt-out dwelling.
this is taken after the holy mass at the cebu metropolitan cathedral. the image was being placed inside the urna in its carozza to be transported from the cathedral to the parroquia de san nicolas.
there are accounts thats ay that the image was found at the cathedral but tradition narrates the image was found at the place where the san nicolas church is presesntly standing.
that is the reason behind that the image is being transported to these two churches.
