Mute Swan and Eggs
This swan stood up long enough for me to see that she has five eggs. The first day she was on the nest she had one. When I went by the next day, the egg was gone so I was quite concerned as to what had happened to it. A few days later, however, she now has five. So it should be about 34 days or less and we'll see some cute little cygnets.
For a long time now this same pair of swans has been coming to the same area to nest every year. What's surprising is that it's only about eight feet from the trail and a few more feet from a parking lot so we're able to get a very good view.
