Chic & cheerful: Yellow foyer + gray trim: 'Babouche' + 'Down Pipe,' by Farrow & Ball

Hello, optimism! Decorator Annie Elliott designed this foyer for the 2009 DC Design House in Georgetown. The walls are covered in a yellow polyester fabric from Stroheim (Elliott originally wanted silk, but she needed 50 yards, and Stroheim was comping it... and, you know, times are tough). The fabric matches other sections of the foyer which Elliott painted Babouche; the trim is painted Down Pipe in High-Gloss Oil and the ceiling is Pigeon, all by Farrow & Ball.

Other details: Round Palifoxiana Expanding Dining Table from Ebanista. Custom bench by Beachley Furniture, upholstered in Angora Mohair Velvet, and bolster in Guy Savoy, both by Stroheim. Floral silk-wool rug is Lily in Titanium, by Odegard. Gamma chandelier, Pride Sasser vase, and Randall Tysinger by E.J. Victor bookcase, all from Robert Allen | Beacon Hill. Saki floor lamp from Niermann Weeks. Carpet is Abbey #90, Wool, from Patterson, Flynn & Martin Rosecore.
