Operation Heavy Hammer (45)
The Task Force was assigned to assault a village near the Ligeria-Nagonia border to capture or eliminate Hadir Sulaman and Omar Hassan, the masterminds behind the ambush and killing of four Victorian special operations forces operators.
The assault team launched at night aboard two Pave Hawk helicopters and reached the landing zone (LZ) several kilometers from the village just before dawn.
Moving silently, the assault team patrolled toward the target and initiated their assault. The terrorists were caught by surprise and apprehended without incident. Following the capture of the high-value individuals (HVIs), the assault team secured the area and conducted post-assault activities, including sensitive site exploitation to gather intelligence.
