King's Cross suburban 1976/7
A class 31 emerges from the very confined single-track 'Hotel Curve' tunnel connecting the Metropolitan Widened Lines with Kings Cross station. It is hauling an afternoon peak suburban train that has originated at Moorgate - or maybe, given the deserted platforms in these shots, a morning empty stock working. The wooden platform is low relative to the track.
I took one or two trips to sample loco-hauled suburban stock while I had the chance. All this ended, and Hotel Curve closed, when the GN electric services into Moorgate were introduced. I also made a point of taking some photographs...
