JS no 6209
The lower front end of JS 2-8-2 no 6209. Pretty it ain't - but it all works OK. These engines might look careworn but they all seemed well maintained - for example no steam leaks and they consistently turned in the demanding performance required of them. Note the width of these locos - such is the Chinese railway loading gauge.
No 6209 is one of an earlier series of JSs (as opposed to the later 8xxx series), distinguishable by two slidebars rather than a single one.
