King's Cross 1981

I'm glad I found this. It was taken without flash in the gloom that was King's Cross. I was thrilled to see that some updating work (presumably) had uncovered an old sign across the arch saying TO CITY & SOUTH LONDON ELECTRIC RAILWAY. The C&SLR, now the Northern Line of course, reached here in 1907.

 

I wonder if the sign is still there (covered over again).
