KZA Supercube Wagon RGL96600 at RTC Derby 2007

A prototype high capacity wagon was built by Powell Duffryn in 1993; designated "Supercube" RGL96600 had a central lifting bed to allow greater capacity, sliding cover allowing easy access for loading. Fitted with Y25 fabricated bogies, P5 tyre profiles and had a nominal 52 tonne load capacity. During its acceptance tests in September 1993 there were problems with the underframe structure. Modifications were followed by repeat tests in October 1994 however no more wagons were built to this design. The prototype wagon then languished at the RTC for many years, being used by DM&EE and subsequently Serco for storage of test weights.
