Canadian Geese on the beach on the southern Oregon coast

These Canadian Geese were hiking north on the beach north of Paradise Point headed for the mouth of the Elk River. Seemed odd but maybe they were trying to get their one surviving goslilng to a safer neighborhood. Also odd as it seems too early for them to have been nesting. Near Port Orford in Curry County on the southern Oregon coast.
