Potato picking at Darley Dale ...

I think this was taken in the 1940s in the field next to DFS which is to the left. DFS wasn't there then, of course. That's Holt Road and Farley on te hillside behind the potato pickers.

 

Uncle Syd is sat on the tractor of the left and Grandad looks as though he is probably standing to the footplate [or something] behind the tractor. My Dad, Frederick Benjamin Wildgoose, is standing in between them firmly wedged in between a couple of young ladies. I understand he was quite popular in that respect ...

 

My Aunty Margaret is on the front row, the fifth child in from the left with a big smile on her face.

 

Albert Cooke who lent me the original so that I could scan it, is the young blond haired lad second in from the right.
