Perching Kestrel

This American Kestrel was very eager to pose for his portrait. He was using all his energy to steady himself on the high wire as the strong winds pushed and pulled him. As he scanned the horizon for small prey he caught our eye and posed for this image. This male Kestrel was perching and scanning the ground for prey to ambush. Physically, American kestrels are leaner and less muscular than larger falcons.
