Outside the station is a statue of Annie Moore and her two brothers Anthony and Philip.
They disembarked from this spot on 20 December 1891 on the ship S.S.Nevada. Annie was the first person to be admitted through the Immigration Center at Ellis Island.
Sad to say but if the current administration gets it's way people like Annie, Anthony and Phillip will no longer be admitted. Not enough cash and poorly educated they would not be able to afford rent in Trump Tower or membership to Mar-a-Lago.
