Continental glass in the UK
by Granpic
Many examples of continental glass can be found in the UK, particularly in churches. Much of it arrived in the late 18th century and was bought up by wealthy collectors after churches and monastic establishments in Europe were attacked by revolutionary mobs.
I have also included glass by artists who worked for English patrons ( like the Tudor kings) because they trained on the continent, noticeably in the Low Countries.
