Guildhall, Northampton

Built to replace the old town hall and finished in 1864, the design of Northampton Guildhall was by Bristol architect, E W Godwin, who had won the competition for the design of the new building. Victorian high Gothic in style the facade is covered with intricate sculptures illustrating episodes from local history ( both real and imaginary), saints and monarchs and the symbols of local trades.
