Shoreline

A planned snowshoe hike for today looked doubtful as we drove through the Ferndale Flats in a blustery wind with enough drifting snow that visibility was reduced to near zero. Once back in the trees, it was a different story and the heavy snow pack from a week of stormy weather was simply gorgeous.

We had to go today, you see, because the forecast was calling for a change to freezing rain and just plain rain after that. I imagine much of that snow will be gone in a couple of days.

In this photo, taken on the Georgian Bay shoreline, it was the lines and textures in the snow juxtaposed with the frozen trees that caught my attention.
