167 Hangings

These gallery seats in a local 150 year old courthouse no doubt accommodated the bottoms of many people over the years. I'm told that as many as 167 people were hung in the jail next door - the last in 1948. That seems a pretty high number for such a small town but then prohibition wasn't lifted until 1972.
