Fidès Devriès (1851-1941); American (-Dutch) soprano. She was the daughter of the Dutch soprano Rosa de Vries-Van Os (1828-1889) and a pupil of the famous tenor Gilbert Duprez. She made her debut in 1869 at the Théâtre-Lyrique in Halevy's "Le val d'Andorre". In 1885 -at the Grand Opera Paris- she created the rôle of Chimène in the première of Massenet's opera "Le Cid" , together with such famous singers as Jean and Edouard de Reszke and Pol Plançon.
