Pauline Viardot-Garcia by Disderi (1)

Pauline Viardot-Garcia (1821-1910); French mezzo-soprano. She created the role of Fidès in Meyerbeer's "Le prophète" (1849) and the title-rôle in Gounod's "Sapho" (1851). She was the younger sister of Maria Malibran.

 

On the photo she is seen as Orphée in Gluck's "Orphée et Eurydice".
