Towers of the Virgin
Dappled Light on The Towers of the Virgin on a brisk morning in Zion National Park, Utah.
----------------------------------------------
First image from a recent trip to Zion but actually the last image I took on the trip, turns out that's a pattern for me. I'd only been to Zion once before, many years ago before I was into landscape photography. I've been wanting to come back ever since and recently got the chance. Considering that it's winter and during the government shutdown I thought that the place would be practically empty... Oh how I was wrong.
I got up before dawn to capture this view. The forecast said it was supposed to be mostly cloudy.. Well, it was cloudy behind me, so I guess the forecast was at least partially correct. As I waited for the light to show itself, the sun slotted between the clouds to provide this lovely dappled light on the towers and I captured this image with some frost covered bushes in the foreground...

Pentax K1 - 15-30mm f/2.8 - 1/25th @ 28mm f/9 ISO 100 - 2 shots focus stacked for foreground and background
