Revo C13723-S

Affectionately known as REVO 'Daleks' because of the raised dimples on the bowl. The REVO C13723S was one of a family of similar looking street lighting lanterns produced by REVO in the late 1950s and 1960s to satisfy the growing market in low-pressure sodium street lighting. These bulky, but fragile lanterns were once popular in many towns and cities across the UK, although they have been very heavily culled in recent years under a succession of street lighting renewal schemes. Wolverhampton was a big taker of these lanterns from their introduction in the mid 1950s until production ceased around 1967. In fact they took so many, that even today a fair few examples still survive in the western suburbs of the City.
