Derby 71, Derby Bus Station, 1983
The solitary low-height Volvo B55-Ailsa was owned and operated from new by Derby City Transport, spending several years in the service of the municipal operator. The vehicle was often to be seen working services once operated by the former Blue Bus Company of Willington; a well known South Derbyshire independent operator, who's operations had been acquired by Derby City Transport in 1970s. I recall seeing it many times working the Burton-Derby service.
Its registration suggested that it might be number one in the fleet, but the unique bus was given the fleet number 71. It is pictured in Derby Bus Station on 19th July 1983.
