Little by Little
Two withdrawn buses being steadily cannibalised for parts are pictured at the back of the yard of Little's Coaches at Hallam Fields, Derbyshire.
The pale blue bus is former Trent Barton 318 (YJ07VSP), a Optare X1200 'Tempo' dating from August 2007. 318 and its long scrapped sister 317, had been used by Trent Barton exclusively from new on the (now defunct) 21 service until c2017. After disposal by Trent Barton, 318 had worked with CT4N of Nottingham as their 1014 (re-registered J19CTN), and whose fading colours it still wears. The bus had been acquired from CT4N by Little's a couple of years ago as a parts donor for the two ex Trent Barton/CT4N 'Tempos' that it continues to operate. Coincidently, sister 317 had suffered a similar fate with CT4N, who acquired 317 for spares and never used it in service. At the time of this picture, 318 was heavily stripped of parts and its mechanical units removed.
The green Optare Solo to the right with the old Riley car on top of it is YAZ8645, formerly Nottingham City Transport No134, previously registered YJ51XSU. Unlike the Tempo to the side of it, YAZ8645 had been used extensively by Littles on stage carriage work. The Solo had been stripped of many parts, but may still have its mechanical units present?
Littles Coaches are now part of the Wellglade Group, so the three ex Tempos currently owned have come full circle to their original owner/operator, Wellglade being the parent company of Trent Barton.
