WMT 6410, Vicarage Road, Wolverhampton, 1988
West Midlands Travel, Fleetline 6410 was the last WMT Fleetline in Wolverhampton to be powered by a Leyland 680 engine. However, at the time of this photograph the bus had been converted to run a standard Gardner 6LXB engine. In the late 1970s and into the early 1980s, 6410 was one of a handful of buses on the fleet to carry an all over mid-blue livery advertising Phoenix Insurance.
The bus is pictured out-of-service in Vicarage Road, Wolverhampton, with Cleveland Road bus garage just visible to the rear of the vehicle. Its days numbered, 6410 was withdrawn in c1989 and sold to Kingfisher Travel of Redditch for further use.
The old red brick building to the left is the former James Baker shoe factory, which still stands. The building to the right was part of the Royal Hospital complex, this particular building being pulled down in 2021.
Although built in the mid 1970s, Cleveland Road bus garage seen in the far distance was demolished in 2017, apartments stand on the site today.
6410 - Vicarage Road, All Saints, Wolverhampton - 17th December 1988.
