WMPTE 806L, Carl Street, Walsall, 1970
The 3rd October 1970 was the last operational day of Walsall's trolleybus system. So with the focus on the trolleybuses, not many enthusiasts would have been photographing motorbuses.
However, not everyone was of that mindset, and someone seeing Leyland Royal Tiger, 806L parked in Carl Street still wearing Walsall blue, must have seen it as too much of a temptation not to.
In today's world, it might seem an odd place to park up a service bus, but Carl Street was the inward approach into Birchills depot, so a regular occurrence for the local residents.
Today, sister vehicle 808 can be seen at the Transport Museum Wythall near Birmingham.
