Selwyn Motors - F810YLV - 292 service at Hatfield
Taken a short time before Selwyn Motors of Westgate, ended their contribution to the 292 'Saturday only' Belton to Doncaster service. (Via Epworth - Sandtoft - Hatfield - Dunsville)
Putting aside the few contemporary seaside open-top operations elsewhere in the country, this was the last regular use of a MCW Metrobus in stage carriage service in the UK.
The bus itself, an ex Mersey Travel Metrobus, had become a bit of a celebrity at this point in time, and was a subject chased by many transport photographers.
After withdrawal, the bus was purchased for preservation and taken back to Merseyside, where it was restored to its original Merseybus condition.
Returning to the photo: F810YLV is well into its outbound journey, and is caught passing the old petrol station on High Street, Hatfield, en route for Doncaster.
