T Burrows & Sons, Wakefield Bus Station
T Burrows and Sons were an independent operator based in Wombwell, South Yorkshire. The Company ran a multitude of old AEC and Leyland buses on services between Rawmarsh, Wombwell, Barnsley, Wakefield, and Leeds.
Despite the heavy presence of Leyland and AEC types, they also operated a couple wartime Daimler CWA6's that had originated with London Transport, these were numbered 81 and 82 in the fleet (GYE74 and GYE76).
Originally fitted with 56-seater Duple bodies, Burrows had the two Daimlers re-bodied with 61-seater Burlingham bodies in 1961.
Taken from a very grainy 35mm colour slide, the picture shows No82 (GYE76) in a virtually deserted Wakefield Bus Station bound for Leeds, circa 1968.
