WMT 1509, Wolverhampton Bus Station, 1996

Driver Dhesi arriving at the town's bus station in a rather tatty looking 1509. By this time, the company was rebranding the fleet as WM Buses with local identities, and the newly applied and cheap looking 'WM Buses Wolverhampton' logo is plain to see. The residue from the removal of the West Midland Travel sticker below is messy and adds to the unkempt look of the ageing Leyland National.

The large cream fronted building behind the bus in Lichfield Street was once the Co-op department store, now a pub. When I was a child, my mother took me there on the odd Christmas to Santa's grotto, where I'd stand in a queue to see Father Christmas. Happy memories.
