Although it's displaying 'West Midlands Travel' logos, 1035 (DOC35V) was still in WMPTE ownership when this picture was taken in Stephenson Street, Birmingham on 16th October 1986. Pictured operating on the 101 City Centre service, this Leyland National Mk2 bus had started life with WMPTE in March 1980, originally being numbered 7035. However, all full size single decker buses were re-numbered into the 1000 series by the PTE in April 1985.
Nine days after this picture was taken, WMPTE’s bus fleet was transferred into the ownership of West Midlands Travel.
