The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death

Yesterday, we went to see this exhibit at the Renwick Museum. They are miniature scenes created by Frances Glessner Lee. She created crime scenes in miniature to instruct police on crime investigation. They are still used and housed in Baltimore but the Renwick has them on display. Ms. Lee took a great deal of care to be accurate. They were based on real crimes that took place in the 1940's. This was my favorite diorama. It is a teenage girl who went to buy hamburger for her mother and stopped here at the parsonage and no one saw her again. You can[t really see it but there is a hammer in the corner by the chair and at the front door, there is a scattering of mail that has been delivered. The resident seems to have left after the unfortunate incident.
