THill TMill --> Treadmill Set To Simulate Walking Up Tucson's Tumamoc Hill = "Great Workout" ;))

Mosaic showing my workout yesterday at Carondelet's St. Joseph's Hospital Cardiac and Pulminary Rehab. It is very tiring. It takes me up 700 feet or about 212 meters in 1.5 miles (7920 feet) or about 2400 meters to the top of Tumamoc Hill. That's about a 10 percent grade. I'm doing this in the wee hours of the morning, so I cannot guarantee my arithmetic...;))

This exercise regimen is part of my new healthier lifestyle... If all this had happened twenty years earlier, I would not have been alive...

And, every day is a gift from God!!

Actually, it's much more difficult to walk up the real Tumamoc Hill road than it is to walk on the treadmill. There are a number of reasons for that:

1. I am nervous walking where everyone is better and faster at it than I am! I was always competitive, and going up THill is so embarrassing. It requires determination and mental focus to overcome that horrible feeling...

2. My balance is not perfect. I use a stick for balance, and it requires a lot of mental concentration to walk up THill without falling. On the treadmill, I am holding on with two hands... What a difference!!!

3. Tumamoc Hill gets steeper, the further up you go. That's just a fact of the trail

.

4. THill works different muscles coming down than going up...;)

On the plus side:

1. There is the great feeling of accomplishment!

2. The release of endorphins is delightful...

3. THill works different muscles coming down than going up...;)

4. The views are spectacular! The valley is laid out before you. It's fascinating in the daytime, and the lights are gorgeous at night... You can see all the way to Picacho Peak during daylight hours.

5. The golden hour and the sunsets are wonderful...

6. Tumamoc Hill is an ecological research center of the University of Arizona... It is fascinating to try to identify plants and animals...
