Mysterious Cascading Spectral Colors of Streaming Sunlight - Interesting and Unusual Effect -Occurred Inside the Camera

This is a study of backlit new leaves on a potted Mission Fig tree.

 

I think the cascading rainbow effect in the late afternoon sun is amazing... I find this interesting, fascinating, and beautiful... I wonder if it's the result of diffraction by the lens or sensor coatings... It could be lens flare and multiple internal scatterings in the camera module... Probably a combination... Good example of physical optics phenomena. I would like to be able reproduce the effect in the future in a controlled fashion...;))

 

Hmmm... maybe a flashlight would work... Can't use an LED because the light spectrum is more limited...
