Color Enhanced (#3) Cropped Further - Detail Beyond the Terminator Could be Real
Can We see Beyond the Terminator? #08
Not clear from this image. Could all be edge effects. I have no idea what the iPhone internal processing is like or what iPhoto's algorithms are. So, this is just for fun.
The fact that the red pixels beyond the terminator are separated from the terminator line may be a positive indication...
IMG_6189 - Version 9
I have wasted a lot of time trying to decide if there is any detail on the dark side of the terminator of this crescent moon in this series of photos. The reason it is a waste of time is because I am using an Apple iPhone camera that puts too few pixels on the moon. I zoomed as far as it will let me before shooting the moon. And then cropped it to death in post-processing. I would have been much smarter to have used a good camera with a zoom lens such as my Canon 30D. I see I am making a fetish of using the iPhone camera in all circumstances, since it is always in my pocket.
I will try to remember:
"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."
