♥Baby Ballerinas♥ is a famous name in Ballet.
It originally referred to a group of very young ballet performers in Sol Hurak's famous Ballet Russe De Monte Carlo. One of Miss cecily's teachers in the Boston Ballet was Rochelle Zeid, who was a former Baby Ballerina" in the Ballet Russe.
When I was a youngster, before Miss Cecily was born, my family used to go to the movie theaters, a few times a week, to see the latest movies. I looked forward to the Newsreels that were always shown between features. In particular, before "The War," which is what my generation calls World War II, there were often clips of the Ballet Russe De Monte Carlo. I loved those ballet segments... The women and young girls were exquisite... I appreciated that reality as a very young boy. I was six years old when the US entered the war. That ended newsreels from Monte Carlo. Fortunately, there were wonderful dance movies, some of which included ballet or ballet like extravaganzas. Busby Berkeley comes to mind...
