Young Ballet Dancer Cecily ~~ Late Sixties Experimental Hairstyle ~~ Full Face Portrait ~~ Black and White Film + Sepia FX

Here is a photo of Young Miss Cecily experimenting with hair styling when she was a member of the Boston Ballet Company under the guidance of the legendary E. Virginia Williams, founder - artistic director - teacher - entrepreneur!!! She brought all the great dancers and choreographers, including her mentor, George Balanchine, to work with the BB.

The portrait was made in a studio on the elegant Newbury Street in Boston. I think the photographic quality, and the artistry of the portrait are excellent... This portrait was in done in 1970, just after the sixties, when people were experimenting in the arts. Cecily is still amazed that the very strict Miss Williams allowed her to style her hair so differently.

I scanned these photos at super high resolution a few years ago, and it has taken quite a bit of effort to scale down their sizes for the web. I could really print these at 13 by 19 inches, I think they would look fabulous on the wall. A retrospective - The Boston Ballet: The Early Years - is really overdue!!

This is almost SOOC, but not quite. I added the sepia toning effect. It adds a more realistic reddish tone to Cecily's naturally wavy hair. Her long red hair was always a standout in a crowd...
