Was Churchill Good For Britain?
Winston Churchill was very good for me. I believe that were it not for him, I would not have lived long enough to have had even one of my children, let alone my grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
There was tons of anti-semitism in the USA at that time.
Lucky Lindberg was pro-nazi and he was very popular. It was thought he would run for the presidency.
Father Coughlin was on the radio every Friday night preaching hatred of my people.
We lived in Northern New Jersey and my
Father of blessed memory said it was unsafe for a Jew to go to South Jersey.
We listened to Edward R. Morrow's nightly reporting on the London blitz. TGF Winston Churchill!!!
Then we heard the radio news on Sunday morning, December 7th, 1941 that Japan had bombed Pearl Harbor. I was six years old.
Nazi Germany declared war on the USA and Father Coughlin's radio career was terminated immediately.
Because of Winnie's courage, obstinacy, and use of the English language as a weapon, I survived.

I saw this anecdote somewhere:
"I am reminded of a story. I do not know if it is true or not. It was after the war and the American ambassador to France was at a reception. A French minister was berating him over one thing after another about how the post-war reconstruction was going.
Finally, the ambassador had enough and said to the minister “Let me ask you a question. Do you speak German?” The minister was puzzled at the question and replied “No, I do not.”
The ambassador looked straight at him and said “You’re welcome.”
The same can be said about Churchill and Britain. They still speak English, not German. They are a free country, not a satellite state. They still have their own military, their own Parliament, and their own court system.
So yes, Churchill was good for Britain."
