Womanekin the dignified manequin...

Womanekin the manekin speaks softly. Weatherbeaten, she maintains her Giacometti-like dignity. She remains one of my favorite sculptures...

 

Womanekin has no name ... She is actually a full size ballet dancer sculpture by Miss Cecily, not Giacometti. She was one of a series Cecily crafted in the nineties from recycled materials. She was inspired by an assignment from a sculpture class at the Boston Museum School. We had a seventeen room house (a "summer cottage" from the 1880's) in Lynn, Massachusetts, So, we had lots of room for sculpture. Here we have a teeny tiny house so Womanekin dances outdoors in a very harsh desert environment....

 

I think it's time to give Womanekin a name, don't you?

 

Alberto Giacometti (10 October 1901 – 11 January 1966) was a Swiss sculptor, painter, draughtsman, and printmaker. In his vision of women, they became attenuated and elongated...
