My Raspberry & Guernsey Golden Cream Rose

When I was a kid, we would often go on weekend picnics not far from Newark, NJ. We would park by the side of the road and put blankets down in the roadside pasture. I liked being near the Guernsey cows on the dairy farms.

The Guernsey cow is a breed of dairy cattle from the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. It is fawn or red and white in color, and is hardy and docile. Its milk is rich in flavor, high in fat and protein, and has a golden-yellow tinge due to its high β-carotene content.

The Guernsey cow and the Jersey cow are two of the three original Channel Island cattle breeds that are still in existence. The Alderney is now extinct.
