Desert Willow Tree - Chilopsis linearis

I will plant this lovely flowering tree, from Tohono Chul Arboretum, in my garden, on the west side of the house. It grows tall, requires no watering, and will supply needed afternoon shade. I do love its flowers since I first saw them blooming in a riverside walking trail a few years ago.

[An Aside: I have removed most of the African Sumac trees that grew spontaneously in my gardens on all sides of the house. It is an invasive pest in Arizona, though it has not been banned. Even the University of Arizona Botanical Garden features a specimen. They say it is so early blooming, it provides the first crop harvested by our local Tucson Honeybees.]
