My Cardiovascular Workout <<>>Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

My goal is to place my heart rate in the 120 to 130 beats per minute range which is in the Athletic Conditioning Zone for a person in their 70s.

I did register in that zone for much of my hike on the treadmill. That shows up in real time on the lower metering displays. The 109 beats per minute in the upper right chart is the average including warm up and cool down periods.

I find my heart rate changes rapidly, depending on my anxiety levels which vary widely for me, depending on my thoughts, or the often horrible news on the nearest TV monitor. My heart rate went up to 150 beats/min a few times, so I had to slow the treadmill way down for 2 to 5 minutes each time, and think good thoughts to bring my heart rate down to safe levels.

Nature walks are much better since I am very calm on the trails...
