Senna At Dawn <<>> Summer Monsoon Season <<>> Native to Sonoran Desert In Tucson Self Seeding - Ground Seeds Used As A Laxative

The little yellow flowers are gorgeous. After a rain, there are lots of flowers and green leaves. The flowers quickly make lots of seeds. Senna comes back each year. I think thy are annuals, but some plants seem to survive the winters and also the dry summers.

I remember as a child, during World War II. my Grandmother, mother and aunts would gather around the kitchen table to make laxative pills. Senna was one ingredient. We mixed it with some thickening agent, perhaps flour, and also some water. It made a mound like a cookie dough. We then each picked off a little piece and rolled it into a small ball. All the balls were about the same size.

When my Uncle Nat, who was an M.D., and a Major in the Army, came home, he was not at all pleased at this inaccurate dosage compounding technique...;)) Lol...
