Oh How The Mighty Have Fallen - Saguaro's Ribs

All that remains of this giant Saguaro Cactus is a strong durable skeleton. Such a strong support structure explains the fact that it can grow so tall and hold so much water. Water is quite dense. A Saguaro Cactus with its stored water is very heavy, a few tons perhaps.

 

These skeletal remains are called Saguaro ribs.
