Punch Bowl Falls
Eagle Creek, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Oregon
From last spring's (2024) trip to the Northwest.
Sadly, this is not the photo I wanted. I wanted to be down there, level with the pool. I could find no means to accomplish that, however--at least, within sane reason. Just downstream there is a lower falls, and theoretically, one could traverse the creek there and then hike along the creek's bank to the pool. Unfortunately, the stream was swift and high. To attempt a crossing on this day would be risking my safety and the safety of my camera. I had seen photos taken from below that were just gorgeous, but it was not to be on this trip. Perhaps later during the summer months it would be less hazardous, but I hate traveling in summer owing to the crowds. Oh well, it was still beautiful, and the hike was pleasant.
I actually had designs on using the falls/pool as a backdrop for some nude photography had I been able to reach that pool.
