Peyto Lake

Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

I've seen photos of this scene with sunshine in abundance and I am jealous of many of those photos. But there was no sun to be had on my visit here. I passed by the turnoff on a later day but it was completely overcast then as well. That's the landscape photography game--lucky with light some days, and some . . . not so much. In any case, it remains clear this is one beautiful lake. I don't mean to bad mouth the photo. The lake's color is quite beautiful under these conditions. With sunlight, the color would appear quite different, though no less beautiful. In these glacially fed lakes, the color can vary greatly based on the light. No matter the light, however, they are always amazing.

This is a Pano combining 6 photos taken with my Nikon D810.

Don't ask me why the maps here insist this is the Saskatchewan River Crossing as that river is about 20 miles north here.
