The Devil's Hall, Guadalupe Mountains National Park
My first day at Guadalupe Mountains NP I hiked the Devil's Hall trail in spite of the fact that the weather sucked--cold and rainy. I can't say I enjoyed the experience much, though I certainly don't regret putting on my hiking boats that day (my main problem was that my coat was perfectly fine for short bouts of rain, but over the course of an hour moisture starts to seep through the seems, and by the time this three hour hike was done, I was soaked). Fortunately, the next day was beautiful and the hike I went on then was much more pleasant. The scene above is fairly near the end of the hike but in spite of the title, it isn't actually THE Devil's Hall. That was 1/2 mile further along. This is more like an introduction. The actual hall is longer with much higher walls, but the walls are otherwise identical to the ones here. What this spot has that the "Hall" does not is this little four foot deep pool which, in my mind, made it a better photographic subject.
