Pemaquid at Dusk

The famous "ledges" here at the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Maine. If these tortured layers of metamorphic rock, interwoven with igneous rock pique your curiosity, you can read a brief overview of how this area came to be here: www1.maine.gov/dacf/mgs/explore/bedrock/sites/jul02.pdf

Regardless of how it all came to be, it makes for an wonderful scene--one of the most visited in all of Maine. I arrived here just before sunset and decided to stay over at a nearby motel--even if it was a bit pricey and didn't take credit cards(!). In the morning I got up to take sunshine drenched photos of the site, which can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/80014607@N05/14388986553/in/album-7... and here: www.flickr.com/photos/80014607@N05/14312987792/in/album-7...
