New Rochelle
I have a special place in my heart for old, dirty, oft-maligned cities. New Rochelle is no exception. Just a few miles north of the Bronx, the city was long ago engulfed by the suburban expansion. The city, however, had a vibrant downtown, and a long history, allowing it to retain some of its original character.
These beautiful row houses are far enough from the train station to indicate that they weren't build for commuters to the city, but more likely a result of an expanding New Rochelle population. I spoke to the owner of the house on the right. He was incredibly flattered and proud to have his home photographed.
