Mrs. Tallant Tubbs, charming wife of Tallant Tubbs, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, casting the first straw-vote for Marie Dressler, on the newly patented Morrison Impulse Tabulator in the lobby of the Loew's State Theater, Los Angeles. Marie Dressler is one of the three semi-finals candidates, along with Helen Hayes and Lynne Fontanne, selected by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences to be voted upon for final merit award at the Academy Banquet on Nov. 18th. The Senatorial straw-vote between Tubbs, McAdoo and Shuler is conducted with the same tabulator. The voter registers by placing his hand on the X of the candidate. The impulse immediately lights an invisible photo of the candidate and also tabulates the vote.
