DELA-gebouw
Light designer Michel Suk is no stranger to GLOW. Previously, in a coproduction with composer Bart van Dongen, he created an audio-visual spectacle in and around the Eindhoven University of Technology campus and he provided accents for choir music in the Catharinakerk with projections and LED illuminations.
For this edition, he is using the DELA building’s massive façade as a canvas for the kinetic light sculpture Statemachine. Twenty-four giant spotlights that can rotate and tip have been mounted along the facade. What makes this installation so exceptional is that twelve of the twenty-four spotlights can move vertically too. This allows the lighting to be continually repositioned. Sound fragments that conjure up associations with a machine mechanism emphasise the moments that connect rhythm, light and sound. The ingenious play of sounds, light and movement really bring this flat building to life.
